Roland E. Dunkelberger, 89, of Elizabethtown and formerly of New Bloomfield and Hershey, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, at his home.
Born on October 15, 1928 in Spring Township, Perry County, he was the son of the late Gordon C. Dunkelberger and Twila Gray Reeder.
Roland retired as the Post Master of 30 years at the U.S. Post Office in New Bloomfield. He was a 1945 graduate of Landisburg Joint High School. Roland was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of New Bloomfield, the Antique Automobile Club of America and its Hershey Region, and Prince Edwin – Spring Creek Lodge No. 486 F&AM, Middletown; and was a former member of the New Bloomfield Fire Company. He enjoyed antique cars and their restoration, and in earlier years working on the family farm and orchard.
Roland is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Martin Dunkelberger, whom he married on May 7, 1950; and a son, Ryan Ammerman of Henrietta, NY.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the New Bloomfield Cemetery with The Rev. Gloria J. McPherson officiating.
