Obituary for Meghan Johnson (Johnson)

Meghan Johnson (Johnson)
Meghan Marie Johnson, 18, of Hummelstown, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born on November 26, 1998, Meghan was the sister and best friend of Rachael C. Johnson of Hummelstown, the daughter of Stephanie M. Pucak Johnson and Ken Hollingsworth of Hummelstown, and the daughter of Scott A. Johnson of Elizabethtown.
Meghan is survived by her maternal grandmother, Joanne C. Pucak, widow of the late Dr. George J. Pucak, of Chapel Hill, NC, paternal grandparents, Marlin C. and Judy A. Johnson of McVeytown, PA, aunt and uncle, Kathy and Sam MacDonald, and cousins, Tori (20), Colin (17), and Makenzie (6) all of Holly Springs, NC, a large extended family and many dear friends.
Meghan graduate from Lower Dauphin High School in June of this year. She excelled academically, maintaining membership in the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, and the Science Honor Society. Meghan held the position of President in several on campus clubs including Student Council, Volunteen, Drama Club, and the Women’s Select Choir. She was a mentor through Club Ophelia and Camp Ophelia and volunteered her extra time to working with children at the community library. Meghan was on the 2016 LDHS Homecoming Court and a contestant in the 2016 Miss Hummelstown pageant.
Meghan was an amazing vocalist who was active not only in high school musicals and theatre productions, but also performed in many community theatre productions. She had recently been nominated for an Apollo Award for her outstanding theatrical performance as Martha Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace. Meghan was a soloist for many high school and community events and loved everything about the theatre, often traveling to New York City to attend Broadway Shows.
Passionate about cancer awareness and research, Meghan was a captain of the LDHS Mini-Thon and an advocate for the Four Diamonds Fund, even before being diagnosed herself. She volunteered to share her story at various area schools and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Some of her favorite pastimes included being with her little sister Rachael, shopping, writing music, buying shoes, listening to Taylor Swift, watching The Golden Girls, and spending time with her many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 1:00 pm. The service will be held at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Alfred P. Sceski and The Rev. Fr. Modestus Ngwu as celebrants. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends beginning at 11:00 am.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
