Obituary for Fern Knackstedt

Fern A. Mabry Knackstedt, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017, in the Harrisburg Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Philadelphia on September 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna Mabry.
Fern retired from the Payroll Department of Sears Roebuck & Company, Harrisburg. She was a 1950 graduate of the former Lower Paxton High School. Fern attended St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Harrisburg. She enjoyed attending her Red Hat Society events and Knitting Club. Fern found pleasure in doing crafts, knitting, crocheting, painting, needlepoint and ceramics.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Knackstedt, Jr., on January 21, 2012.
Fern is survived by her son, Thomas E. Knackstedt husband of Mary E. of Hummelstown; three grandchildren, Lori A. Knackstedt-Schwendt wife of Marek Schwendt of Gainesville, FL, Steven E. Knackstedt of Hummelstown, and Paul T. Knackstedt husband of Ana Maria of Christiansburg, FL; four great grandchildren, Ema Schwendt, Alex Schwendt, Andrew Knackstedt, and Eliza Knackstedt; a sister, Lara Dickenson wife of Bob of Chula Vista, CA; a brother, Donald Mabry husband of Ruby of Colonial Park.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 12 noon in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. James E. Persons, pastor of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. A visitation will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM until time of the service.
