Ralph “Jim” Shreve., 63, of West Hanover Township, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018. Born in Lykens, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Lois Thompson Shreve of West Hanover Township and the late Ralph J. Shreve.
Ralph was a 1972 graduate of Central Dauphin East High School. He attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC where he had a football scholarship, then went on to Harrisburg Area Community College. He worked as a draftsman for Skelly and Loy in Harrisburg, and was part of the development of Shreve Company in Harrisburg.
Ralph was a devoted member of Living Water Community Church, where he helped with the food pantry and was part of the Welcome Team. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion Squadron 730 in Penbrook. Ralph loved to hunt and fish with his son, brother, and nephews. He was also very involved with the wrestling community and helped many local athletes receive college scholarships. He had been a frequent skydiver. Most importantly, Ralph was passionate about everything he did.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children, Ian M. Shreve fiancé of Beth Kukla of Mechanicsburg, and Lauren N. Shreve of West Hanover Township; two granddaughters, Alexa and Ashlyn; a sister, Elaine M. Goodale, wife of James of West Hanover Township; and two brothers, Randy C. Shreve of Susquehanna Township, and Joseph M. Shreve of West Hanover Township.
Ralph is preceded in death by his sister-in-law Deborah Shreve.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 11 AM in Living Water Community Church, 206 Oakleigh Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17111, with Pastor Michael S. Leonzo officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday in the church from 10 AM until time of the service.
