Daisy J. Brunner Cassel, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2018, in Londonderry Village, Palmyra.
Born in Dellville on June 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and May E. Weldon Brunner.
Daisy was a dedicated homemaker, farm wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hoernerstown, belonging to the altar guild and quilting group. Daisy was a member and past president of the Dauphin County Farm Women and Dauphin County Farm Women Group 1. She enjoyed tending to her garden and lawn, and canning. Daisy was a talented baker and her family enjoyed family dinners and the treats she always made.
In addition to her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Cassel; brothers, George, James and Charles Brunner; and sisters, Ellen Messimer and Pearl Fry.
She is survived by two sons, Russel E. Cassel husband of Marjorie A., and Robert E. Cassel both of Hummelstown; a daughter, Debra L. Leshak also of Hummelstown; four granddaughters, Dr. Christine L. Cassel of Hummelstown, Nicole E. Cassel of Harrisburg, Lauren J. Leshak-Espenshade wife of Troy M. of Middletown, and Andrea L. Leshak, Esq. of Manhattan, NY; and five great grandchildren, Jasmine Q. Mackley, Holden B. Mackley and Charles Hancock all of Hummelstown, and Cole M. Espenshade and Claire E. Espenshade both of Middletown.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 11 AM in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 158 South Hoernerstown Road, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Martha S. Boyd, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday in the church from 10 AM until the time of the services.
