Obituary for Betty J. Munz (Sharer)
Betty J. Sharer Munz, 91, of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, and formerly of Southampton, passed away Friday, March 29, 2018, at the village.
Born in Collingsworth, NJ, on March 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Henry Merrill and Elizabeth Mayne Sharer.
Betty was a former secretary for Harbison Dairies in Philadelphia, and Weber Industrial Supplies in Southampton. She was a graduate of Kensington High School, Philadelphia. Betty was a member of the North & Southampton Reformed Church, Churchville, and the Sell Chapel, Elizabethtown. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Unit #6493, Warminster. Betty was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing cards and traveling. Beyond all else, Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Munz, on January 1, 2002; a son, David Munz; a grandson, Robert Andrew Hesch; and a brother and sister-in-law, William and Charlotte Sharer.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Nancy Elizabeth Hesch wife of Robert of Townville, SC, and Janice L. Anderson wife of Barry of Hummelstown; one son, Alfred G. Munz husband of Vicki of Castanea; five grandchildren, Christopher Hesch husband of Kara of Manhattan, NY, Missy Goodman wife of Chris Ilgen of Lock Haven, Ryan Anderson of Harrisburg, Brett Anderson of the Outer Banks, NC, and Cara Anderson of Hummelstown; three great grandchildren, Elyse Goodman and Linzy Carson both of Lock Haven, and Robert Kane Hesch of Manhattan; one sister, Catherine Forrest of Southampton; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11 AM in the Sell Chapel at the Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, with The Rev. A. Preston Van Deursen officiating. Inurnment will be in the Columbarium of Masonic Village. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Saturday at Sell Chapel from 10 AM until time of the service.
