Obituary for Randy Wanner

Randy Wanner
On the morning of August 2, 2018, Randy Scott Wanner (also known as "Hot Dog") passed away at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA due to heart failure. He was 55 years old.
Born in Harrisburg, PA on April 28, 1963, to Alice (Wentz) Wanner and the late Earl Stan Wanner Sr. He is survived by his mother, Alice, his brother, Stan Wanner Jr., and his sister, Jenny (David) Cassell. He was preceded in death by his father Stan, and brother George Wanner.
Randy attended Capital Area Intermediate Unit for schooling, and he graduated in 1984.
Like many in his family, Randy was passionate about racing. He was honorary “Pit Boss” of the Wanner Racing team. Randy spent many years at the Fredericksburg, Williams Grove and Silver Spring Speedways. Additionally, he loved to compete in tractor pulls with Rude Dog Tractor Pulling.
Randy was a beloved member of the Hummelstown community and was known for his love and knowledge of keys. On his 50th birthday, Mayor Bradley Miller awarded Randy a key to the city in honor of his role as a "key" man in the borough of Hummelstown. Mayor Miller also declared April 28 to be "Randy Wanner Day" in the borough of Hummelstown.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 7 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday in the funeral home beginning at 5:00 PM until time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Randy's honor to Best Buddies, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, 491 Allendale Road, Suite 302, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
