John W. Hall, 74, of Palmyra, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 in The Gardens at Palmyra, with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Hershey on July 23, 1943, John was the son of the late John W. and Jean Eshenour Hall.
John was a school teacher for over twenty years, retiring from the former John Harris High School and PHEAA. He was a 1961 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, Hummelstown, before continuing his undergraduate education at Lebanon Valley College, Annville, and graduate education at Millersville University. John played the pipe organ for various churches over many years, as well as the piano in several nursing homes. John enjoyed reading, playing piano, and loved to travel.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Claire M. Burkett Hall, whom he married on June 30, 1962; three sons, John W. Hall, Jr. husband of Tracey of Chambers Hill, David L. Hall husband of Tara of South Hanover Township, and Commander Lawrence E. Hall husband of Susan of Georgetown, TX; a brother, Thomas Hall of Florida; eleven grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Kate Warn, pastor of Palm Lutheran Church, officiating. A visitation will be held in the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until time of the services.
