Arlene P. Derr, 94, of Middleburg, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017, in the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hanoverdale on August 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Bell Peffley.
Arlene retired from the Hershey Chocolate Factory where she worked in the wrapping department. She was a former member of the Paxton Church of the Brethren, Harrisburg. Arlene greatly enjoyed crocheting, and travelling after she retired.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Derr; her son, William C. Derr; and a brother, Richard Peffley.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna M. Cousins wife of Thomas L. of Middleburg and Linda K. Bechtel wife of Harry F. of James Creek; a brother, Melvin Peffley of Hummelstown; six grandchildren, Tammy Zechman wife of Nathan, Bryon “Butch” Bechtel husband of Victoria, Kevin Bechtel, Connie Landis wife of David, Carol Reichenbaugh wife of Tom, and Denise Derr; ten great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday, October 9, 2017, at 2 PM in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 4855 Londonderry Road, Harrisburg.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
