Mary Ream Plouse, 81, of Newport, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, in the UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
Born in Lower Paxton Township on October 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Herbert L. and Josephine A. Zettlemoyer Ream.
Mary was a former secretary for West Perry Middle School and Milton Hershey School. She was a 1954 graduate of the former William Penn High School, Harrisburg. Mary was a past member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. She enjoyed cooking and baking, was an avid reader, and crafting. Mary loved spending time with her family and caring for others, she volunteered her time at several places including the American Cancer Society and Hummelstown Library.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of almost 57 years, Richard S. Plouse, whom she married on May 26, 1961; a son, Andy R. Plouse husband of Loreena of North Carolina; a daughter, Joanne P. Peters wife of Brian of Millerstown; and nine grandchildren, Emma, Rachel, Megan, Grace, Sam, Levi, Isaac, Jacob and Naomi.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria R. Shunk; and a brother, Paul Ream.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 11:30 AM in the Trefz and Bowser Funeral Home at 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. A visitation will be held on Thursday in the funeral home from 11 AM until time of the services. A private inurnment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery.
